What the "my voice may be used in releases" checkbox actually means
In effect since August 20, 2026
When you tick this box, you allow the creator to put your recording into public material — a video, a podcast, a livestream, a stitch of voices. Below is what that means, point by point.
What you allow
- Including your recording — whole or as a fragment — in the creator's public material.
- Showing that material anywhere and as many times as they like: we set no boundaries by country or platform.
- Leaving the material available from then on, with no time limit.
- Doing it for free: nobody pays you or us for getting into a release.
What you do NOT allow
- Selling your voice separately from the material.
- Using it in advertising for someone else's product as the voice of a specific person.
- Identifying you by voice or matching your timbre against anything. We never do this and never let anyone do it through us.
- Synthesizing your voice, training a voice model on it, faking your speech.
Only from age 18
Publishing another person's voice without consent is a violation, and the law does not recognize a minor's consent: a parent decides that for them. We have no way to ask parents, so we simply do not give the checkbox to anyone under 18. Until that age only the creator hears your voice.
The permission can be taken back
Turn the toggle off in your profile and we will stop giving your voice to releases. This applies going forward.
Taking a voice out of a video that is already out is impossible: it is with the creator and with the viewers. A withdrawal stops what has not gone out yet, it does not undo what has. So think before the checkbox, not after.
If there is no permission
Nothing breaks: your recording still reaches the creator, they still listen to it and can reply. It just does not go into the public stitch, and the creator is told honestly how many voices did not make it in.
