What we record, who it goes to, and how to erase it

In effect since August 22, 2026

FAN CALL is a service where a fan leaves ten seconds of voice and a creator listens to it. A voice is data about a person, so this page says plainly what happens to it.

Who is responsible for your data

The service is run by a private individual. Full name and address are available on request at support@fancall.link. Send any question about data and any demand to delete it to the same address.

What we collect

  • The voice recording — those ten seconds. This is the main thing the service exists for.
  • The transcript of the recording and its topic label — those are produced by a speech recognition vendor.
  • Year and month of birth — only to check your age. We do not ask for the day.
  • Your email — if you signed in. Without signing in you can call anonymously, and then we have no email.
  • Technical records about requests: time, country from the IP address, device type. The country is needed for one thing — to know which age threshold applies.
  • A network fingerprint — to tell a live person from a program that opens thousands of calls. We do not store the address itself: what is left of it is an irreversible trace that cannot tell anyone who you are, and it is erased after two hours.
  • Your correspondence with support, if you wrote to us.

We do NOT use the voice to identify a person: no "recognizing a regular fan by their timbre", no telling one person from another by how they sound. This is not caution, it is a rule we will never break.

Why we do it and on what basis

  • To deliver your recording to the creator you called and to assemble the day's track out of the recordings — this is the service we agreed on with you.
  • To transcribe and label the recording so the creator can find the right ones among a thousand voices — also part of the service.
  • To verify age — the law requires this, there is nothing to ask about here.
  • To count limits and keep people from working around them — our legitimate interest.
  • To handle complaints and remove what breaks the rules — our legitimate interest and our duty.

Who your voice goes to

The main difference between this service and an ordinary website: your voice is meant for ANOTHER PERSON. The creator you called will hear the whole recording — that is how the product works.

Whether the voice ends up in a public release is a separate question and a separate permission. By default there is none: without your "yes", only the creator hears the recording.

Permission for releases is given from age 18. While you are younger the checkbox simply is not there, and the voice stays between you and the creator.

Besides the creator, our vendors see the data — exactly as much as their work requires:

  • OpenAI — speech transcription and topic labeling. The audio itself and its transcript go there. No name, no email, and not who you called either.
  • Cloudflare R2 — storage of audio files. The file only.
  • Cloudflare — delivery of the site; this is also where we learn the country from the IP address. It also shows the "are you human?" check before your first call: the network address and browser details go there, the voice does not.
  • An email delivery service — the email address and the sign-in code. The voice is not passed to it.
  • A payment service — it will appear when payments appear; card details will never reach us at all.

About model training. We send audio to a speech recognition programming interface, not to a publicly available chatbot. Under the vendor's terms such data is not used to train its models, and service copies of requests are deleted on its side within up to 30 days. These are its rules, checked by us on August 22, 2026; if they change, this paragraph will change too.

We do not sell data and we do not hand it to advertisers.

Data travels abroad

We and our vendors work in different countries, including the United States. That means a recording may be processed where data laws are different. We choose vendors that have standard contractual clauses for data protection.

How long we keep it

There is one rule: we keep things exactly as long as they are needed for what you gave them to us for. Once the purpose is done, the data goes, it does not sit around "just in case".

  • The raw file from the microphone — 7 days after the call has been processed. After that only the evened-out working copy is left, and the original erases itself.
  • The voice recording — until you delete it or as long as the account is alive.
  • The transcript — as long as the recording: delete the recording and the transcript goes with it.
  • Age and the fact of consent — longer than the recording itself: this is the proof that we asked for permission, and it is needed even when the audio is already erased.
  • Technical records — a short period, the one needed to investigate failures.

We delete for good: the file is removed from storage, the row from the database. Copies in backup snapshots go together with the backup's own term, they do not live a life of their own.

Once a creator has released a video, we cannot take your voice out of it: the video is already with them and with their viewers. Deleting on our side stops the future, it does not undo what is already out.

Your rights and how to use them

  • See your calls — the "My calls" screen, everything we know about them is there.
  • Delete your recording — the button on the call card. The creator's reply to a deleted call goes with it.
  • Withdraw permission for releases — the toggle in your profile, it applies going forward.
  • Report someone else's voice or a reply — the "report" button on the card.
  • Request a copy of your data or deletion of the whole account — by email to support@fancall.link; we answer within the time the law requires.
  • Complain about us to the supervisory authority of your country — you always have this right.

Children

You can call from age 13, and in European Union countries from 16: the consent law there names a different number. Permission to use a voice in public releases — only from 18.

If it turns out that a recording was left by someone younger, we will delete it. Write to support@fancall.link and we will do it with no argument.

No tracking

We do not put third-party counters, advertising pixels or session recorders on the site. No third party collects information about you through our site — neither over time nor across other sites.

That gives a direct answer to the browser's Do Not Track signal: there is nothing to handle separately, because the tracking it protects against does not exist here at all. We use browser storage only for signing in and to remember your answer about age.

Security

We have written data protection rules, and here is what is in them:

  • A specific person is responsible for security — the same one who runs the service. Their name and address are available on request at support@fancall.link.
  • Only they have access to the recordings and the database; there are no separate staff with access right now, and when there are, they will get exactly the part they cannot do their work without.
  • The connection is encrypted, the database does not face the internet, files sit in closed storage and are handed out by a link with a short lifetime.
  • We pick vendors under a data protection agreement and give them the minimum: audio to speech recognition, the file to storage. A person's whole profile goes nowhere.
  • Once a year and after every noticeable change to the service we look again at where data could leak, and fix what we find.
  • Data that is no longer needed is deleted on the schedule above — what does not exist cannot be stolen.

If a leak does happen, we will tell the people it affects and the supervisory authority — as fast as the law requires, and with no attempt to hush it up.

If this policy changes

We mark changes with a new date at the top of this page. If something substantial changes — what we collect, who we pass it to, how long we keep it — we will say so in the app itself, and we will write to those who have an email on file. Visibly and in advance, not after the fact.
